Winter Fun with Huskies for Families & Adults

We offer different activities involving our adopted sled dogs. Looking for something relaxed & playful or for something more sporty & fun? Browse through and find the best fit to your taste!

We are currently located in Tervola area, southern Lapland, Finland

Note:

We do not offer classic husky safaris as our dogs are all re-homed from professional kennels and mushers for various reasons. Many places offer those, and are very good at it! At our place, you will do different activities that our dogs enjoy, and will enjoy doing with you! Come & visit us if you want to see another aspect of sled dogs & huskies!

On the Dogs

Alaskan Huskies are active and very joyful dogs. They are pack dogs and play, interact as pack dogs do. They are very friendly, but tend to jump, especially at the beginning, and will try to hug and kiss you to welcome you on their territory. Some can be loud as they are so happy to see visitors! We always make sure you that you feel comfortable and you will be given plenty of time to get gently used to them, one or two at the time, in their running fence. Bring adequate clothes.

Visits can be done in English, French, Italian, some German and a bit of Finnish!

Cancellation policy

- We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if booking is cancelled 1 days or less before the event
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 10% if booking is cancelled 7 days or less before the event
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 3% if booking is cancelled 100 days or less before the event

  • Early Bird Paws & Hugs

    1.5 hour visit including

    • meet the dogs at our small kennel
    • information & stories on our shelter for re-homed sled dogs
    • follow us in our morning routine
    • time to play and get to know the dogs
    • time to take pictures
    • we will keep you warm with hot drinks and rolls

  • Winter Visit & Play with Dogs

    Approx 3-hour activity includes 

    • meet the dogs at our small kennel
    • information & stories on our shelter for re-homed sled dogs
    • a short walk on foot or snowshoes in the area with some dogs (depending on the snow conditions)
    • time to feed, play and get to know the dogs
    • hot drinks & snack by the fire in a typical Finnish wooden laavu

    For who?

    • For adults (min 2)
    • For families
    • Also for adults with specific request regarding dogs, being in their company: better understanding dogs, desensitization to apprehension or fear of dogs, etc.) - on request, ask a quote

  • Dogs & Snowshoes

    3 hours outdoor activity with a full 1.5 hour tour on the snowy trails

    • meet us & your walking dog buddies at the starting spot
    • information on our shelter for re-homed sled dogs
    • equipment for snowshoeing (snowshoes, harness, leash & belt)
    • a nice tour in Tervola area and its beautiful winter landscape
    • hot drinks & snack by the fire in a typical Finnish wooden laavu or kota (depending on the place of the snowshoes tour)

    Note: dogs love to go out for a walk and can pull sometimes, especially if we see wild deers and reindeers. Only our most suitable dogs join us on the walks. Still, a good physical condition is required from the people who will take the dog. We adapt the level of the tour to be suitable for the children! But children cannot hold dogs alone (except Sparta, our home dog!)

  • Magical Full Moon Walk

    Next events: 17 and 18 December 2021

    Booking required. Max 8 people or 2 families as we like it friendly and cosy!

    Enjoy a magical Walk under the Moon Light along with Husky dogs as companions and warm up with hot drinks and snacks around the bonfire!

    Sometimes, on cold clear nights, the Northern Lights meet the Moon for a really  Magical Dance!

  • Winter Fast & Glide with Dogs

    Fancy trying something fun with dogs? Come and try our single or two-dog sled activity! You will be driving your own buggy with one or two of our fast Alaskan Huskies around a 2km loop. A sporty & more adventurous activity for those who like to have some fun!

    Starting 01.01.2022
    Approx 3-hour afternoon activity includes 

    • meet the dogs at the kennel
    • information on our shelter for re-homed sled dogs
    • equipment for the sled tour - bring your own helmet if you have one.
    • a tour with the buggy and 1 or 2 dogs!
    • time to feed, play and get to know the dogs
    • hot drinks & snack by the fire in a typical Finnish wooden laavu

    For who?

    • For adults and teenagers above 16 yro
    • Good balance and overall condition required. No athletic skills needed.

    2.5-3 hour -12:15-15:00 - 79€/person

    Note: if this isn't an intensive cardio activity, it still requires good balance and good grip. Basically, anybody who can stand firmly on their two legs and hold the handlebars can enjoy a ride with the buggy. We will make sure that you and the dogs have fun whilst being safe.

    In this package, you will benefit from Rachel's experience as an Arctic adventurer and Arctic Ultra Runner racer (first woman to have run and finished twice the Rovaniemi 300; Arctic 1000 solo winter expedition). With dogs as expedition companions of course!
